A view from the bridge installed to prevent damage to vegetation. The Perito Moreno glacier, which is still growing, and a rather interesting phenomenon occurs at regular intervals: the glacier front is faced with a strip of land, which has the effect of creating a plug in the two nearby lakes. However, the lake on the left (when looking at the glacier front) usually falls in the right. Out if it is clogged, the water level rises, thus pushing the ice cap. Water seeps under the ice, biting, digging and ending with a gallery, which expands fast enough, the passage of water. An arch of ice is then formed at the top with the remaining ice, which will take a few days to collapse... a spectacular event!

Back in El Chalten, we will observe the only glacier still increasing, the Perito Moreno. UNESCO decided to include this glacier in its World Heritage List of UNESCO, under the Natural Heritage of Humanity. It's a glacier with a front 4Km, peaking at 60m high, one of the few advancing glaciers in the world of almost 100m a year...
