The Agora of Athens was, in ancient times, the main square of the city. It was used to trade, meetings and, until the reforms of Cleisthenes, it was the gathering place of the Ecclesia. Agora is now a very important archaeological site, located in the heart of the modern city at the foot of the acropolis.

The Athens Olympic Stadium was built in 1982 and has been completely renovated to accommodate the Summer Olympics of 2004. It is named Spyridon Louis, won the first Olympic marathon of the modern era. It has a capacity of 69,618 seats.
