The castle of Beynac is situated in the village of Beynac-et-Cazenac, in the Dordogne and specifically in the Black Perigord. This castle is one of the best preserved and one of the most famous of the region. It was classified by the Historic Monuments February 11, 1944 .. It is a medieval building, of austere, perched on top of a limestone cliff overlooking the town on the right bank of the Dordogne. The castle has the shape of an irregular quadrilateral extended south by a rocky bastion. The stern tower topped with battlements, dates from the thirteenth century. Protected side of the tray by double walls, the castle overlooks the Dordogne 150m.
